CrossFit Charleston Family and Friends...
Our next mission in a "year full of giving" is up and running! We are going to join in with CrossFitters around the world in donating for "Hope for Kenya." This is a new organization that has just been announced where CrossFit Headquarters is teaming up with local rural villages in Kenya to build schools, water cisterns, and even desks for students. As of now, one school, at least one water cistern, and several desks have been made already and are providing people and children with opportunities that would never have normally been possible. The approximate cost of these items is $14,000 for a school, $3,500 for a water cistern, and $30 per desk! We have a chance to be part of something VERY special and be known as a box that not only is one huge local family, but be known as a worldly family also!! We are NOT going to let this opportunity to help, pass us by...

CrossFit Charleston will be hosting the "official" Hope for Kenya WOD on Saturday March 2 starting at 9:00am! The workout is a 12 minute AMRAP of 50 squats, 30 push-ups, and 15 pull-ups. The workout will be 100% scalable, so any and everyone is welcome to come and participate!! There will be a suggested donation of $30 for every athlete, but anyone wanting to give more certainly can! Just think at the end of the 12 minutes, not only did you get a killer workout in, but you gave generously to a group of people who desperately need the things in life we take for granted every day!

The overall goal of the CrossFit Charleston family in the "Hope for Kenya" fundraiser-WOD is $3,500!! We are setting the bar high, and we aren't going to look back! Raising $3500 will be enough to build a water cistern in a village of Kenya where water is either scarce or of poor quality! As CrossFitters (esp during the Charleston summers) we know how satisfying a clean, cool drink of water can be! Now imagine that luxury being taken away!! The people and children in these villages deserve the life giving refreshment, and quality of life, that clean water can bring!

Donations for "Hope for Kenya" can be done 1 of 2 ways! Either at the BOX on the day of the WOD or online...and donations have already started!!

If you go on the website and on the right side there will be a "click to donate" area. Just click on that and then type in William Graham or Philip Huffman. This site will keep a running tally of our total donations, all the way up to our goal of $3500!

As we stated, this is near and dear to our hearts right now and we have HUGE expectations and goals because we know we have an awesome family at CFC! We believe we can do this! We believe it so much, that Coach Phil and Coach Will are willing to match the first $500 we raise as an affiliate! That will surely get us started, but that leaves a lot of work to be done and donations to be made. Talk to family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. about what we're doing and ask them to donate just $30 for a desk, or challenge them by asking for a penny, quarter or a dollar for each rep you complete in the 12 minutes!!! I also challenge other people to step up and make matching donations to whatever you feel is on your heart. Post it on Facebook, Twitter, wherever, just so people can see what it's all about. You never know who might want to donate! Have fun with this and be creative! Remember, there is no donation amount too large or too small, just be sure to give with your heart! 100% of the proceeds go directly to the mission!!

We are all extremely excited about the nature of this project, the chance to give and be generous, and for any and all opportunities that may come from this initiative!!
